Adults with Down syndrome more likely to die from COVID-19

The Lancet’s EClinical Medicine reports that adults with Down syndrome are three times more likely to die from COVID-19 than the general population.

The increased risk became particularly striking among older individuals. A 40-year-old with Down syndrome was reported to have a similar risk of dying from COVID-19 as a 70-year-old in the general population.
